Toronto Public Library COMICS JAM!!

For the past four weeks, I've been hanging out at Albion Library
in Rexdale and Parliament Street Library in Regent Park
making comics with teens!

We've had a dedicated crew at each library
and made a ton of comics.

We read a bunch of graphic novels and talked about our favourites.

We covered layout and design, how to develop character
and storyline...

... learned new drawing techniques to capture character, expression, setting and environment...

And got on the photocopier and made all our comics
into a load of zines!

I'm so proud of all the teens I worked with who made comics with honesty and passion, and had a whole lot of fun doing it!

Up next in November, Thorncliffe & St. James Town

Keep an eye out for a TPL COMICS JAM near you!
February- Flemington
March- Mount Dennis & Kennedy Eglinton
April- Yorkwoods & Evelyn Gregory
May- Malvern

Mom Body

My comic, Mom Body, has received much attention in the past few months, including an Ignatz nomination today! I am thrilled and honoured.

Mom Body has also been featured on Huffington PostBuzzfeed and Yahoo Parenting. It was originally published on GUTS Canadian Feminist Magazine.

Oscar Care

Jonathan and I went away for the holidays and left our cat in the care of the girls who live next door, so I made this comic.
